How to dry clothes?

Chinese speaking conference at Bower House in London

A Chinese speaking conference was held at Bower House in London last weekend. I was there and I enjoyed the message and the blending with saints from many localities. It is just amazing that no matter where we go we always speak the same thing.

Tutorials

The teaching system at UoB is quite different from the school's in US. For the first year undergaduate, it is required to have tutorials for them, which is learning in small groups. So I am running stats tutorials for six students. It is fun to work in small groups. In this informal setting, students are more encouraged to participate. They ask questions, solve the problems on blackboard, etc. So far so good.

One of the students did not show up today. Actually I am a little bit worried about her, since I have not heard from her from the beginning of the school year. I don't know if she is actually here or not. So today I asked the undergraduate coordinator to check on her. Well, I think it is my responsibility to make sure that my students are making effort on their school work.

I like theses students. Hope they all enjoy learning.

Shipment from Chicago

Finally I got my 35 boxes from Chicago. It has been two monthes since the moving company came to pack. My shipment arrived at UK in late September, then it took more than a week for the custom clearance and another week to schedule a delivery. Now here they are, packed in my room. Anyway I am so happy to see these boxes again!

Even though I like Waltham Cottage a lot, I won't rent it until there is a confirmation inside of me. I don't mind where to live, but, Lord, prepare a proper place for your sake.

Another rainny day

Another rainny cold day at Bristol.

Yesterday a student came to me to ask if I was able to be his 3rd year project tutor. I was not aware of this matter until then. After talking with my mentor, I decided to hold off a little bit on this matter. I learnt how to say no.

I am getting better, but still sick.

The verse I enjoy today is from Psalm 36.

Psa 36:9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

Waltham Cottage

As you know, I am still looking for a proper living space to settle down at Brisotl. The other day when I went to look an apartment, I met Sara, who works as a post-doc in the Department of Phycology. We figured that if we put our resources together, we could have a very nice living place. So here we are.

I was there right on the time. Since I was the first one there, I was asked to be a model for the photographer so that he could adjust light, backgroud and etc. The background was black and I happended to ware a black t-shirt, it just made things a little bit harder. As we talked and laughed, the photos have been taken. Then I was asked to have a serious expression, rather than smiling face. What a difficult task! I managed it for few seconds but I could not help laughing...

It was fun to take photos, especially with professional photographer. I felt like a movie star on the stage. Quite amusing.

Flat hunting

At this moment, I am renting a room and still looking for flat. This morning I had a view at Brandon Villa for an one bedroom flat. In fact, I was rather disappointed.

The things I like:
* new
* double glazed windows
* windows facing east, south and west
* big bathroom

The things I don't like:
* small
* laundry room located in the bedroom
* lack of storage space
* maybe noisy, (I think the street outside is busy)
* expensive
